As a Realtor, I come across this quite a bit. People know that they would like to buy a home but they have no idea where to start. They are overwhelmed. They need advise. Well the good news is that its really not as bad as you think! I bought my first home about a year and a half ago and was super nervous. Luckily, I had a good Realtor who helped me and explained everything to me. Here are the basics:
1.) "Do your homework"--- Have an idea of what you want in a home and areas you would consider. 2.) Get Prequalified--- So important! A lender can give you advise on so many things but the best part is that they can let you know what price range you should be looking for and if you have issues with your credit, they can advise you on what to do to fix it. Finally, they will be the ones to get you that ever important Prequalification letter :) 3.) Go see a Realtor---- Why look on your own when we can do all the work for you?! We can advise you on pretty much everything and have access to so many more listings because we have access to the MLS.
Those are the highlights! Do your homework, get prequalified, and get an expert to help you search :)
