You Can Add Good Credit To Your Own Credit Report

You Can Add Good Credit To Your Own Credit Report

It seems that most times we fight the credit bureau's to remove incorrect and/or derogatory items from our credit reports.  But there is something a lot of people don't know, and that's the right to add positive items to their credit report - such as rental history, utility payments and lines of credit established through a small business owner.

Here are Some General Rules for Adding Positive Items to your Credit Report
Report existing trade lines to credit bureaus. Not all creditors report your account information to the credit bureaus. In order to convert established credit accounts into credit report trade lines, you may personally request that the credit bureaus update your credit file.

  • Contact the creditors to ask if they have been reporting to the credit bureaus. If not, then you may first make a request through them to establish your file with the credit bureaus.
  • Gather documentation proving your account details (contract, cancelled checks, monthly invoices, etc.).
  • Contact each of the 3 credit bureaus - Equifax, TransUnion and Experian - regarding your trade line request. You can find all of their contact information below.
  • Submit all of your documentation as per credit bureau instructions; be prepared to pay a processing fee.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have purchased a home by way of Seller Finance.  The owner (lender) stated that he does not report to any of the three credit bureaus.  I respectfully ask that my positive payment history be added to my credit file.  If there is an associated fee please provide me with the amount.  The attached files are proof of my positive payment history for my mortgage covering the last 8 months (Feb 2014 - Oct 2014)

Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
